Summertime Staging Tips!

It’s summer. Kids are out of school, the weather is nice, and people are spending more time outside. So why not bring the outside inside? Today, we’d like to highlight just a few of the many benefits of utilizing plants while staging your home.

You’ve probably heard the phrase “first impressions are everything.” Whether or not you agree with that sentiment, we can all generally get behind the idea that first impressions are quite important. Plants work well to set you up for success on that front, as they help to provide a lively atmosphere in your home’s living space(s) (whether or not they are actually alive).

Whether or not the plant is in the living room, plants can also provide focal points. Want to create a focal point without worrying about hanging wall art? Plants are a great option and won’t damage your walls! While being a focal point, a plant can also incorporate a pop of color into a room as well! Now when it comes to your home’s interior color scheme, there’s no doubt that neutral is king. However, pure neutrals can make a house seem rather generic and one note. Plants are a great and non-committal way to incorporate some color into a room without getting out the ol’ paint bucket or hanging something on the walls.

Plants are also great replacements. For example, when preparing your home to sell, it is advised to remove personal touches. This includes family photos, sports memorabilia, etc. Removing these items is a step in the right direction, but the removal also creates empty space. Plants are great tools to utilize in taking up space because they do so without creating a taste-specific or cluttered look.

Lastly, plants are great tools to help buyers determine scale. Many potential buyers will view your home for the first time digitally, whether they discover it through a realtor or on their own. Size and dimension are difficult to discern solely from a picture. Plants can help potential buyers better understand the size and dimensions of your home, which may, in turn, assist them in visualizing themselves living in the home. The ability for buyers to “see themselves” in the home makes it much more likely that they will consider putting in an offer.
